GRADUATE ASSISTANT ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Under the current guidelines of the Graduate School, graduate students holding full-time assistantships may be permitted additional on-campus employment. Additional duties from ALL sources, including Part-Time Instruction funding, MAY NOT EXCEED 7 hours per week above the assistantship. Permission to work additional hours is granted solely by the Dean of the Graduate School and is not guaranteed. In particular, students with a graduate GPA below 3.2 should not expect approval of additional work assignments. Work supervisors responsible for this request should include a clear rationale. In an effort to support as many graduate students as possible, the rationale should include an explanation as to why additional support for the particular student is requested rather than for a student who is currently not receiving any financial support from the University.

Requests should be made using the Graduate Assistant Request for Additional Employment form and must be routed to the student's graduate program advisor for recommendation and then to the Graduate School, Jones 414.

Faculty advisors and work supervisors are encouraged to contact the Graduate School if there are any questions regarding student eligibility for additional employment.
